wqaq 98.1 fm
WQAQ 98.1 FM, QU's student-run radio station, was the first organization I joined on campus, and it became my home away from home for four years. I hosted three weekly shows: Strawberry Skies, Ringside Radio, and The Slumber Party. Hosting these shows taught me so much about building a brand and an audience. I won the Show of the Semester award in my first semester of eligibility, which led to holding multiple leadership roles. I served as the music manager for the fall 2022 semester, the programming manager for the spring 2023 semester, the general manager for the 2023-24 academic year, and the graduate assistant/advisor for the 2024-25 academic year. I built a legacy that I am extremely proud of in each role, including implementing new protocols for concert press coverage, host training/attendance, and radio show scheduling. During the 2022-23 academic year, I established relationships between the station and five local venues and increased general meeting frequency from monthly to weekly, bringing in guest speakers from companies like Universal Music Group, Live Nation, WWE, NBA, SoundCloud, iHeartMedia, and more. My "GM Jen" era earned WQAQ nominations for the Office of Student Engagement's Most Valuable President and Most Valuable Organization awards as well as the Undergraduate Awards for Event of the Year and Organization of the Year.
student programming board
While WQAQ was the first organization I joined at QU, SPB was certainly the first org I noticed as a freshman - it's hard not to pay attention to a club that has so many events with "free food" on the flyer. I first became involved with the organization by working on the co-sponsored concert with WQAQ, Fall Fest, working as a volunteer during my second year and the stage crew director during my third. After making so many core memories helping Peach Tree Rascals headline Fall Fest in 2023, I took a leap of faith and dove in headfirst as the hospitality director for Wake The Giant, SPB's annual spring concert. More core memories were made watching Flo Rida put on a custom QU hockey jersey I coordinated the making of on stage for thousands of students. As a graduate student, I served as the graduate assistant for programming and advised the organization alongside a full-time staff member. This role helped me develop as both a mentor and a mentee and opened my eyes to how unique the world of event planning can be. While the highlights of that year for me included planning Fall Fest featuring The 502s and Wake The Giant featuring Quavo, some of my favorite experiences were unexpected ones, like running a Mario Kart tournament, hosting an Adam Sandler-themed movie night on the quad, and inviting students to paint Snoopy and Woodstock-themed crafts during a university power outage. I closed out my tenure as "GA Jen" by winning the SPB Unsung Hero award, something I didn't expect my advisees to nominate me for, but I was incredibly grateful to receive.

the agency
The Agency is one of the most unique opportunities that QU has to offer, a student-run interdisciplinary communications firm that is so much more than course credit. As a graduate student, I served as the vice president of social media and a staff member on the content and copy team. This extraordinary experience once again taught me how to be both a mentor and a mentee, working with real-life clients like the Hamden Fire Department, Devil's Gear Bike Shop, and DebtWise. Using my skills in copywriting, copy editing, creative direction, content creation, and graphic design, I led our team to over 3k views, 700 likes and 60 comments across over 20 posts for multiple clients in just one semester. They certainly call this group "the best of the best" for a reason!
quinnipiac film society
Despite earning a different degree than all my film major friends and roommates, I'm definitely still a huge film buff (and I have the Letterboxd profile to prove it). As a member of QFS, I attended weekly meetings and bonding events and contributed to discussions about current events and pop culture (including riveting debate topics like: "Is the MCU dead?"). My favorite memory with the club will always be attending the 2024 Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah, a trip that I assisted with fundraising efforts for. I also got the chance to step out of my comfort zone as a music supervisor for student films, coordinating communication between independent artists and filmmakers to create movie soundtrack moments of my dreams.

association for women in
sports media
My identity as a queer woman has always played a role in my approach to a career in communications and media, making QU's student chapter of AWSM the perfect safe haven for me. After attending guest speaker events and watch parties as a general member during my freshman year, I served as the vice president of the organization for the 2022-23 academic year. I got to show other members of underrepresented communities that their dreams are possible, through guest speakers from WWE, MLB, ECAC Hockey, NHL (Seattle Kraken), Premier Hockey Federation, and Black Girl Hockey Club, and even got to bring a student to a professional women's hockey game as a member of the press for the first time. This leadership brought the organization to a nomination for the Office of Student Engagement Award for Most Impactful Organization in 2023. Representing this organization and this community made my heart so full, and I've taken the lessons and experiences with me for years to come.
quinnipiac bobcats sports network
While I've told everyone I chose QU for academic reasons (and that is mostly true), I can't deny that the stories I heard about the live sports environment on campus weren't a huge draw for me. As a multimedia producer and color commentator for QBSN, I got to tell the stories of the university's iconic division-one teams like men's and women's hockey, basketball, lacrosse, baseball/softball, and soccer. My northeast passport got stamped a few times, covering the 2022 Connecticut Ice Tournament in Bridgeport, CT, the 2022 ECAC Championships in Lake Placid, NY, and the infamous "Battle of Whitney Avenue" games between the Bobcats and Yale Bulldogs in New Haven, CT. My proudest achievement will always be serving as color commentator on QBSN's first-ever acrobatics and tumbling broadcast in spring 2022. After winning the Multimedia Producer of the Semester award in my first semester of eligibility, I stepped up as a social media manager on the executive board for the fall 2022 semester, getting to mentor the next wave of QBSN stars.
