umg/°1824

While my official title at UMG/°1824 was a social media and strategic partnerships representative, my responsibilities also included helping out the press team - in my market and beyond. Over nearly three years on the team, I secured over 115 press placements for artists including Reneé Rapp, Towa Bird, Holly Humberstone, X Ambassadors, Yung Gravy, Stephen Sanchez, Valley, Sarah Kinsley, David Kushner, Zedd, Still Woozy, Livingston, Jeremy Zucker & Chelsea Cutler, Alessia Cara, The Wrecks, The Head & The Heart, Lyn Lapid, and more. Contributing to press campaigns for iconic labels like Island, Interscope, Geffen, Republic, Virgin, Def Jam, Verve, and other UMG business units was such an honor. About two years in, a crossed a huge item off my music industry bucket list when I moderated a press conference on Zoom with one of my favorite artists, Jazmin Bean, giving journalists the opportunity to ask them questions about their "Traumatic Livelihood" album and tour. My favorite part of the job was undoubtedly building relationships with such amazing grassroots outlets like Culture Flux, Superstar Magazine, Tracklist Magazine, Mainstage Collective, Sound System Media, Blanco Tarantino TV, Following Boston/Backstage, Voltage Live, and more. Helping young creatives tell the stories of other young creatives - what's better than that?

the syndicate

The final internship experience of my college career was an incredibly impactful one, working with the rockstar public relations team at The Syndicate, an award-winning independent entertainment marketing firm based in Weehawken, NJ. During the summer before I began grad school, I secured over 120 pieces of coverage for artists like Jane's Addiction, Say Anything, Pauli the PSM, lovelytheband, Chrissy Costanza, Anberlin, Painted Shield, Aczino, Piff the Magic Dragon, Slightly Stoopid, A2IM, Joe's Pub, Ian Fidance, Japandroids, Tokyo Police Club, Savanna Leigh, and more. With the help of inspiring managers and mentors, I dove even deeper into the world of entertainment PR, including creating media alerts, assembling press clips, organizing artist reports, press/influencer target research and outreach, writing press releases and pitches, and even just throwing out ideas for evergreen stories and content in brainstorming sessions. One of the highlights of my time was working Indie Week 2024, including working my first red carpet at the Libera Awards! I think about how much fun I had with this team all the time - I also frequently reminisce on the crispy tofu noodle lunches we'd have at the Thai place down the street from the office...

freelance

Throughout my second and third years of college, I worked as a freelance artist publicist and manager, telling the stories of amazing musicians and good friends including Homesafe, Rare Candy, Fox Teeth, Sporting, Time of Man, penny bored, Until October, Faerie, and more. Nearly 170 pieces of secured coverage later, I grew confident in my ability to run a full-scale press campaign, from lead single to album release. Blending label communication coordination, press release and biography writing, contact research/outreach and general advisement and management, I grew immensely as a person and a professional. I even went on my first tour, working as a merchandise manager for Rare Candy in an opening slot for Ace Enders of The Early November. Consider my "band mom" title earned, not given.

wordless public relations

One thing about me, I love working with powerful women in music on clients that I'm truly passionate about. For the first semester of my final year of undergrad, I worked with Alexa Gallo's Wordless PR as a publicity assistant, working closely with the teams behind hardcore/punk and alternative record labels including Equal Vision, Flatspot, Triple B, DAZE, Bridge Nine, Revelation, Good Fight, Static Era, Other People, and more. In this position, I created and updated press reports, conducted clip searches, researched local/regional press outlets, and coordinated tour press: from initial outreach, to making sure there's a ticket with their name at the box office, to getting that link for the secured coverage. Clients included some of my favorite bands (and incredible humans) like Scowl, Zulu, Kaonashi, Restraining Order, Magnitude, Broken Vow.

big picture media

Interning with Big Picture Media during my second year of college was a dream come true. I got to work with an inspiring team of all women on clients that I grew up fangirling over, including Neck Deep, Tyler Posey, Heart Attack Man, New Found Glory, Bayside, Against The Current, Story of the Year, and more. Here, I honed my skills in press packs, press clips, copywriting, social media management, graphic design, video editing, press release/tour press alert writing, and other hard skills in PR. I'll never forget my manager sending cookies to my dorm on my last day (shoutout Becky!).

bad idea collective

My heart has always been and will always be with DIY hardcore and punk music, especially the Long Island, NY scene. I grew up loving the music, and going to gigs as a teenager is what solidified my passion for wanting to work in this industry. During summer 2022, I worked with a group of bands in the area making up The Bad Idea Collective, including Pink Mist, Raid, Tilted, Industrial Grade Chemical Cleaner, and more. I stepped out of my comfort zone by assisting with booking shows, release planning, and even stepping in on vocals during a Pink Mist set at Amityville Music Hall. While working with this community, I secured placements with outlets like No Echo, For The Punks, Bummer Brews, and more.

vibe check public relations and management

From the end of my senior year of high school to the start of my sophomore year of college, I worked as an assistant to certified music industry girlboss Nina Swint. Our little dynamic duo freelanced under the name Vibe Check PR and Management, working with clients including Action/Adventure (Pure Noise), Girl K (Take This To Heart), Unturned (No Sleep), Rare Candy, Tiny Kingdoms, penny bored, Sporting (my first independently-run campaign), Melt Music, and more. Here, I led outlet research and outreach, playlist submission strategy, and copywriting for press releases, pitches, and social media content. One of my most memorable projects was helping coordinate the release of a custom hot sauce in collaboration between Soothsayer and Action/Adventure called Poser Poison...I still don't do well with spicy foods.

dimm entertainment

During my final semester and summer of high school, I interned with DIMM Entertainment, a boutique publicity and artist management company in Freehold, New Jersey. This was my first public relations internship, and I learned a ton from some amazing mentors! My time as a DIMM-tern taught me how to write press releases, organize press kits, and keep track of secured coverage using one-sheets. Clients included Pollyanna (I Surrender), Latewaves (Open Your Ears), America Part Two (Revival), Christian Sparacio, Jonathan Francis, Ron's Car, Highwind, Kelli Faith, Babie Julez, Wyndup Kid, and more.
